Cyprus is not just a scenic island with luxurious hotels. It is also a popular place for higher quality education. Many students from around the world choose tiny Cyprus for their higher education needs. You may be wondering why that is. This article will explain the benefits of Cyprus education and reasons why so many travel to this island country for quality education.

Cyprus has invested millions in its European education system offering excellent bachelor and master degrees that match the standards of international universities worldwide but at a fraction of the cost. Affordability is a huge factor that draws many to Cyprus universities.
In fact, the country spends more than 7% of its GDP on education. That is the third highest share in the European Union.

DEGREES

Cyprus offers programs in just about every field, but the most popular offerings by Cyprus universities are in business, tourism, and hospitality. You can find degree programs in medicine pharmacy, computer science, and more in Cyprus. The Cyprus university system is a member of the Bologna system and EU, however, most of the Cypriot colleges base their curriculums and class structure on the American system of education. As in the United States, students are allowed to choose and vary their courses. This allows students on tight budgets to take what they can.

Tuition is a little pricier for foreign students because Cyprus immigration law allows foreigners to work only a certain amount of hours set by legislation. However, Cyprus higher education is still more affordable than universities in other countries. The tuition fees average between 3,400 and 8,000 EUR/year or around 314 EUR per module. Pharmacy students will find annual tuition fees around 7,000 Euros. Graduate students will pay between 2,000 and 2,500 Euros depending on the course of study. (source: study-domain.com)

Classes usually begin in February or the beginning of October. Foreign students must register two weeks in advance. For grading, you will not find pass-fail exams in Cyprus, but you will find testing, research papers, and group projects. Nevertheless, students do take two exams in each course: one in the middle of the term and one at the end of the term.

DORMITORIES AND ACCOMMODATIONS

Students find the university facilities at these schools comfortable and accommodating for their studying needs. Cypriot colleges have dormitories that cost around 150 EUR. Some students prefer to rent off-campus apartments, but this is more expensive. Colleges offer help to financially challenged students for finding apartments to share with four other students.

These universities and colleges are generously funded, so the facilities and buildings are up to date, and meet a high standard. Around 25,000 students study in Cyprus with foreigners making up one-third of them. Dual-degree programs which are accredited by US and UK partner universities are popular with foreign students.
